NaNoWriMo

NaNoWriMo begins today, and as much as I have been looking forward to participating for the first time, I have to admit, I am very nervous! It is a bit overwhelming to start thinking that in less than 30 days, I will need to have 50,000 words written. That is pretty funny for anyone who knows me, because I probably "say" 50,000 words in 2 days!! At least my husband will agree with that :)

I am working on two different pieces at this point; a novella for a Kindle World, and a completely different novel for NaNoWriMo. The Kindle World novella is set in author Steven Konkoly's Perseid Collapse world and will be of the same genre, essentially, with a little romance thrown in for good measure. In order to understand what is going on in the novella, and to know the characters, you would need to read the Perseid Collapse series. From November 16-20, Mr. Konkoly is offering the prequel, The Jakarta Pandemic, for .99 on Amazon, and is considering putting the rest of the series on sale as well. So, if you think you'll be interested in reading my novella, please mark your calendars and get a deal on this series while it lasts! They are considered post-apocalyptic thrillers.

The novel I am writing for NaNoWriMo is completely different, and will be published (if it's picked up, that is!), under a different pen name than the one I'm currently using. I have yet to decide how much information I plan to give on this particular book; I'm still working through the particulars on how I feel about it so far.

One Word

Hi everyone! I've posted a new article over on Medium I would love for you to check out! I talk about the One Word movement, where you choose one word to carry with you through the year, instead of making those pesky new year's resolutions. It's a pretty interesting concept. I  hope you enjoy! If you would like to read my blog in your email, please click subscribe! One Word Article

We Need to Talk; Why this doesn’t Have to be Anxiety Inducing

A quick note, if you have not already done so, please take a moment to subscribe to my blog. This will ensure that you don't miss a post, as it will come direct to your email! It doesn't cost a thing, except a moment of your time. We’ve all had that gut-wrenching moment in a relationship. You get that text. Or hear the words out loud. We Need To Talk. Shit. But it doesn’t have to make your blood pressure go up, or make your heart race, nor do you have to allow every life altering scenario run through your head until the moment arrives for THE TALK. But I’ll tell you a secret. In order for all of those things not to happen, you have to put in some work first. Before “we need to talk” ever comes out of the mouth of your partner. Yes, relationships require work in order to work. And it’s not 50/50, not if you want it to work. It’s 100/100 folks. Well, in a perfect world, which we do not live in. So, since nothing and no one is perfect, let’s just leave numbers out o...

Finding my way

The writing is coming, in bursts, but at least it is happening. At this point, I think I may have two different stories going on; and I am ok with that. There is some character development going on that feels like it has long-term potential for my novel (novela?), and the paragraphs that are flowing a little more smoothly, possibly another novel, or maybe a short story. I really don't know yet. I will cross that bridge when I feel like I can actually put the scattered notes and pieces into something a little more "whole". I've been reading in between writing as well. I finished a fantastic book last night, "Children of the Salt Road", by Lydia Fazio Theys. I have the paperback version, but it is a signed copy, and I didn't want to bend it, so I ended up getting the Kindle in Motion version; something I have never experienced. I recommend it, at least for this book. The art is quite beautiful, and not at all intrusive while reading. If you go to Amazon ...
